Yes, we all need it, the overused IM, phone conversations, and the snail mail email. Well, if you have no way to reaching your friends, then come on in and have a conversation or two and possibly meet new people.
Lakewood Grove, a peaceful neighborhood with friendly families and people resting quietly behind the walls of their cozy homes. This neighborhood is best known for their hospitality, kindness, and bake sale, oh yea, bake sale. Many residents in this quaint neighborhood have lived here for ages. It's a neighborhood like a small town, every one knows every one, and the new person on the block is hardly ever left out. Not to mention the juiciest gossip spreads like wild fire through the inner group of mothers who converse on a daily basis. Few younger couples live here however, for they find the price for homes a bit over their heads.
Chacyll Unlltd. is the hottest clothing store in Alice Springs, sure there's those other inferior clothes stores farther in town, but why buy clothes at those cheap-looking run offs when you can get the real thing? Chacyll Unltd. is run by three very business minded by the names of Chelsea Metcaff, Amanda Burrier, and Cheryll Wong. They created the catchy name of Chacyll by taking elements of each of their first names, put those letters together and BAM. You gots your self a creative store name. Why they put Unltd. at the end, we'll never know...perhaps they were trying to copy that one store back in America, Unlimited Too...who knows. But hey, why worry about that boring crap when you've got clothes to look through and buy? Don't forget to check back on this wondrous place for those monthly sales.
Basey's General Store, ahh the memories that some can hold here. Not really, but hey, one can pretend, can't they? Basey's is owned by a middle aged couple with the last name of, yep, you guessed it, Basey. The man that started the store was called Wallace Basey years ago. After Mr. Wallace's death, he handed down the store's ownership to his son, Albert Basey. For years Basey's General Store has provided the residents of Alice Springs a variety of groceries, from bread to billows, they've got it all...except for clothes, sorry kids. Basey's General Store...almost like Alice Spring's version of Walmart.
A small dusty white building with faded blue lettering and a cracked window. Not necessarily the place you'd envision as the main station for the law-enforcing people of Alice Springs, is it? Well, it is. From within those white-washed walls you'll find the city's sheriff, deputy, and a few other officers. Of course, the police force in Alice Springs is that moderate sized town, not too big, and not so small that every body knows every body. Of course you might be wondering, if the town's so peaceful, why have a police force, but that's where you're wrong. Alice Springs needs these daring men, for crime surely does run rampant on the dusty streets of Alice Springs.
These cozy little apartments are run by an elderly couple for twenty five years. Many students and people with a low budget find these homey one to two bed room homes the perfect place to stake out their lives as they quietly wait behind the walls for better days to come upon them, though there are a few here who have the money to move out of the home apartments, but just don't want to, it's rather nice here you know?
This cafe is perhaps one of the more favorite eating places for the residents of humble Alice Springs. In fact, it's so popular, many of the waitresses know exactly what some customers want without having to ask them what they'd like to order for the day. Danoson Cafe serves everything from breakfast to dinner, and at any time you want too! So if you wand eggs at eleven o'clock at night, you can get those eggs at that ungodly hour of the night.
The large neon sign that announces the presence of Anova Theaters 24 can be seen miles away from it. A fairly new place in the city, Anova has yet to take on the look of a small town theater, its walls are clean, all the lights work, and it smells pretty good on the inside, doesn't smell like the backside of a camel. The movies shown here are up to date and not the old crappy kind. Already, Anova Theaters 24 has earned a well deserved spot in the hearts of the younger generation of Alice Springs.
Pabon Hospital is the only hospital for thousands of miles, if you get sick, but are far from any other hospitals, you might wanna look into checking out a room in Pabon Hospital. Of course, you can't really call this hospital a hospital, for it also doubles as a general medical clinic, but hey, you gotta settle with what you've got, right? For the local residents of Alice Springs, many of them were born in this hospital, of course some were born at home, but most were born in Pabon Hospital.
Your typical airport if you've ever seen one, perhaps one of the largest buildings within Alice Springs. Out of this airport flies many different airlines such as Delta, Lufthansa, American Airlines and a few others. There are three terminals each containing at least five boarding gates. That's not very big, but who cares, right? In the main terminal you can find many shops containing those smutty magazines for your flight and local news papers, not to mention strings of many famous fast food restaurants.
Highway 87 is the only major highway (also known as Stuart Highway) that runs through Alice Springs. Starting in Port Augusta on the south coast of Australia, Highway 87 runs through many towns, including Alice Springs. Highway 87 continues on after Alice Springs to Darwin on the North shores.
Miracur Racetrack is not known for its big races with large prizes for the horse and jockey that finishes first, but for the trainers, horses, and jockeys that have been discovered here. The grand stands are beautiful, painted in a soft green, blue, and yellow. The track its self consists of an outside dirt track, and an inner turf track. There are only twelve barns or so with fifteen to twenty stalls each. Every year, new stable hands, trainers, and jockeys come here to see if they can really scrape out a living...as for the rest, they just like to bet.
Anglica Sports Stadium is a few miles from Miracur Racetrack, and at night when the lights on the track are lit up, they can be seen from the Sports Stadium, and vise versa for the racetrack. A few varieties of sports are played here, but soccer is the highlight of the area. The busiest time of the year for Anglica Sports Stadium is when the local cup comes around, and hundreds of supporters come to cheer on their favorite team.
Ah, jails. The holding pen that keeps the area's most dangerous people behind bars. What have they don to earn their mug shot you ask? Why, shop lifting multiple times, stealing cars, you get the idea. However, Rockley Jail is not very large, for it's rare that trouble makers come around. The jail is placed miles away from any civilization, however not so far that the inmates on the inside of the menacing cinder block walls can see the glowing lights of the outside world from their barred windows. In short, it's not a very quaint place.
